Eligible Nepali citizens are invited to apply online for the vacant positions of Police Inspector and Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in the Nepal Police under the inclusive provisions through open competition. Applications must be submitted through the Nepal Police Online Recruitment Management System (ORMS). 4) Application Fees:
For Police Inspector:
- Candidates submitting applications online are required to pay an application fee of NPR 1,200.
- Additionally, candidates applying for more than one group will need to pay an extra 20% (NPR 240) fee for each additional group.
For Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI):
- Candidates submitting applications online are required to pay an application fee of NPR 500.
- Additionally, candidates applying for more than one group will need to pay an extra 20% (NPR 100) fee for each additional group.
5) Age Limit:
For Police Inspector:
(a) Candidates must be at least 20 years old and not exceed 25 years by the final application date. However, for non-gazetted police employees participating in the open competition, the age limit is 35 years, and the candidate must have completed the basic police or police officer training.
(b) For technical police employees, if appointed before the amendment of the Police Regulations 2058, or appointed in accordance with the Police Regulations 2071 (with amendments), they can compete for the position of Police Inspector under the General Police Group if they meet the age criteria for the position of Assistant Sub Inspector within the General Police Group.
(c) For current non-gazetted police employees, the candidate should not exceed 25 years, according to rule 40 of the Police Regulations 2071 (with amendments).
For Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI):
- (a) Candidates must be at least 18 years old and not exceed 24 years by the final application date. However, for non-gazetted police employees participating in the open competition, the age limit is 35 years, and the candidate must have completed the basic police training.
- (b) For current non-gazetted police employees, the candidate should not exceed 25 years, according to rule 40 of the Police Regulations 2071 (with amendments).
6) Minimum Required Qualifications:
For Police Inspector:
(a) Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed at least a Bachelor’s level or equivalent from a recognized university.
(b) Should not have been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude.
(c) Should not have been convicted for violating human rights or humanitarian law.
(d) Should not be a member of any political party.
(e) Should not be a member of any terrorist organization.
(f) Height, Chest, and Weight:
- Male: Minimum height of 5 feet 2 inches, chest 31-33 inches, and weight 50 kg.
- Female: Minimum height of 5 feet, and weight of at least 42 kg.
(g) Vision should not be weaker than -2 or +2.
(h) Must obtain a certificate of fitness from an approved doctor designated by the Nepal Police Headquarters (to be issued during the examination process).
(i) Must be a Nepali citizen.
For Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI):
(a) Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed at least the Certificate level or equivalent from a recognized university or educational institution.
(b) Must meet the other qualifications specified for the position of Police Inspector from points (b) to (i).
7) Documents Required to be Submitted with the Application:
(a) Nepalese Citizenship Certificate.
(b) A recent photograph clearly showing the full face (including both ears), in resolution and size as required by the Online Recruitment Management System (ORMS) (for male candidates, hair and beard should be trimmed).
(c) Educational Qualification Certificates, including the character certificate, permanent or provisional certificate, and mark sheets of each level. If studied outside Nepal, an equivalent certificate from the Higher Secondary Education Board/Tribhuvan University must be provided.
(d) For candidates from Amar/Disabled Police Families, documents proving their family status as Amar (martyr)/disabled and a relationship verification document.
(e) For Indigenous/Janajati candidates, the document should confirm the ethnicity listed under the National Foundation for Development of Indigenous Nationalities Act. If the ethnicity contains multiple surnames, a document from the Chief District Officer confirming the surname within the listed ethnicity, with a recommendation from the local government authority, is required.
(f) For Madhesi candidates, certification from the institution designated by the Government of Nepal through a notice in the Nepal Gazette is required. If no institution is designated, a document from the Chief District Officer with a recommendation from the local government authority is required, verifying the candidate as Madhesi.
(g) For Dalit candidates, certification from the National Dalit Commission based on the listed caste is required. If the caste contains multiple surnames, a document from the Chief District Officer with a recommendation from the local government authority is required, verifying the surname within the listed caste.
(h) For candidates from backward regions (Achham, Kalikot, Jajarkot, Jumla, Dolpa, Bajhang, Bajura, Mugu, and Humla), permanent residency proof from the respective district along with the citizenship certificate issued from the same district, and a document from the rural municipality or municipality confirming the permanent residency until the time of application is required. The recommendation should be issued no more than 3 months prior to the application submission date. If citizenship is issued from a district other than the permanent residency district, a letter from the District Administration Office explaining the reason must be provided.
Note:
Candidates are required to scan the original copies of the necessary documents as specified in the advertisement and upload them in PDF format on the ORMS system. In addition, candidates must upload their photo, signature, right and left thumbprints, and both front and back sides of the citizenship certificate in JPG format.
8) Method for Application Submission and Payment of Fees:
(a) Candidates must visit the Nepal Police Online Application Portal at https://careers.nepalpolice.gov.np and complete the registration process. After receiving a Username and Password, candidates must log in, fill out all required details, and upload clearly visible scanned copies of the original documents. The application can only be submitted once the profile is 100% complete.
(b) After submitting the online application, the application fee can be paid according to the Application ID through the Online Payment System via Connect IPS, e-Sewa, Khalti, or IME Pay by accessing the Office of the Auditor General’s Portal. For offline payment, candidates can download the voucher with the Transaction Signal (EBP Code) and deposit the fee into the relevant revenue account at the designated bank according to the application collection center.
9) Examination Process:
(a) Preliminary Health Checkup and Physical Fitness Test.
(b) Detailed Health Checkup.
(c) Written Examination (conducted by the Public Service Commission at examination centers designated by the Commission).
- Please note that 20% marks will be deducted for incorrect answers in Multiple Choice questions.
- Only answers written in capital letters (A, B, C, D) in English will be accepted for Multiple Choice questions.
(d) Special Health Checkup.
(e) Competency Test and Interview.
10) Locations for Examination:
(a) Police Inspector:
- The Preliminary Health Checkup and Physical Fitness Test for all candidates who submit their applications at the Provincial Police Offices and Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, Kathmandu will be conducted at the National Police Academy, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu.
- The Detailed Health Checkup and Special Health Checkup will be conducted at the Nepal Police Hospital, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, and the Competency Test and Interview will be conducted at the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, Kathmandu.
(b) Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI):
- The Preliminary Health Checkup, Physical Fitness Test, and Detailed Health Checkup for candidates applying at the Provincial Police Training Centers and Kathmandu Valley Police Academy, Maharajgunj will be conducted at the respective application collection centers.
- The Special Health Checkup will be conducted at the Nepal Police Hospital, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, and the Competency Test and Interview will be held at the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, Kathmandu.
11) Contact Dates and Locations:
- The schedule for the Preliminary Health Checkup and Physical Fitness Test for the Police Inspector position will be published on 2081/07/12 on the Nepal Police website: www.nepalpolice.gov.np.
- The schedule for the Preliminary Health Checkup and Physical Fitness Test for the Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) position will be published on 2081/07/13 at the respective application collection centers and on the Nepal Police website: www.nepalpolice.gov.np.
12) Special Notice Regarding the Advertisement:
This notice has been issued in accordance with the mandamus order dated 2079/10/24 in response to Writ No. 078-WO-0662 and other writs filed at the Supreme Court against the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, Kathmandu. Following necessary legal arrangements regarding the inclusive groups, this notice incorporates the vacant positions that were not included in the fiscal year 2079/80 due to the quota allocated for the inclusive groups. This publication fulfills the requirements set forth by the law to compensate for the missed vacancies in the inclusive quota.

Additional Instructions:
Candidates are required to upload scanned copies of all necessary documents when submitting the online application. Candidates themselves are responsible for the authenticity of the submitted certificates.
Any applications that are not submitted within the specified deadline, do not meet the required conditions, or are incomplete or without the application fee may be canceled at any time.
No refund will be provided for the application fee if the application is not approved due to not meeting the specified conditions.
A notice will be published on the Nepal Police website for candidates who submitted applications through ORMS but are missing details or documents. Candidates who fail to update the missing documents within the given time frame will have their application automatically canceled.
After each stage of the exam, results will be published, and only the candidates who pass will proceed to the next stage.
A single exam will be conducted for both the open and inclusive categories. Candidates competing in the inclusive category will have separate competition based on the marks obtained, and positions will be filled accordingly.
During the interview, candidates must bring the original copies of the required certificates and documents they submitted with their application. Candidates must also bring a self-attested copy of each document, marked as “True Copy of the Original.”
In accordance with Rule 13, Sub-rule (5) of the Police Regulations, 2071 (as amended), if additional positions become vacant or are created after the advertisement is published, the position fulfillment committee may increase the number of positions by publicly announcing them before the written exam results are published.
